Robert William McLaughlin Sr., 87, of Bellmawr, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army from September 9, 1960, to July 16, 1962, during which he patrolled the Korean DMZ. His time in the service exemplified his commitment to duty and care for others.
He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Theresa E. McLaughlin (Burba). Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was the proud father of three children: Robert W. McLaughlin Jr., Joseph P. McLaughlin, and Theresa M. McLaughlin. He was also the loving grandfather to Heather McLaughlin and Alyssa McLaughlin.
Brother to the late Margaret “Babe”, Donald, Arlene, Joseph "Buster" McLaughlin. He is survived sister Patty Ann Vanderlinden, as well as many cousins, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness and humor.
An avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, Robert's love for baseball was matched only by his love for animals and his talent for bringing smiles to everyone he met. Known for his quick wit and an unwavering sense of humor, Robert had a unique ability to find joy and laughter even in life’s most challenging moments. He often said, “Everything is funny,” and he lived by those words until the very end, making jokes even a day before his passing. He worked for many years as a coach for the Ability Center of South New Jersey, helping disabled workers in the workplace.
Robert’s greatest gift was his ability to leave people feeling better than when he first met them. He was a warm, generous, and compassionate soul who always found ways to help others in their time of need.
