Tommy Monroe Thompson Passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, at 66.
Born on August 30, 1958, in High Point, North Carolina, Tom was the son of Roy E. and Glenda A. (Jennings) Thompson. His family later moved to California, where he spent most of his youth and graduated from Brea Olinda High School in Brea, CA.
In the 1970s, Tom enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a firefighter and leader of his unit until his honorable discharge. He then pursued a degree in the arts and history while forming a partnership in a custom paint and detail shop in La Habra, CA. From that point, he had diverse experiences working in various fields, accumulating knowledge in trucking, construction, manufacturing, and computer science.
Described by friends as a Renaissance man, he was an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hiking and hunting, a passion that resonated with his adventurous spirit. He lived in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and later in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas, where he later met his wife. As a tech enthusiast, he shared computer time and memory with Stanford University and was the go-to person for computer repair and help. He had a curiosity for learning and was an avid reader. That included the Bible, where he spent time with the Lord daily.
Tom is survived by his loving partner of 14 years, Dr. Rosemary Calio, RN, DC; his sister, Sheree Thompson Lustgarten (CA); his nephews, Brandon Surico, Chase Surico, Kyle Smith, and Garrett Smith; and his niece, Amanda Smith. Also surviving Tom includes his late wife’s daughter, Jessica Crawford; her granddaughters Marilyn Crawford and Chanda Ruley Thomas (Karl); and her great-grandson Konen.
Tom is preceded in death by Roy and Glenda Thompson; his wife, Judy Sexton Thompson; his wife’s grandson, Casey Ruley, who tragically passed away while mountain climbing; and his brother-in-law, Jeffrey Lustgarten. Our hearts go out to those who loved them.
A private memorial service to celebrate Tom's life is being held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, at Givnish Funeral Home, 398 E Main St., Marlton, NJ 08053.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made through contributions to The Scholarship Fund, c/o Pat Murphy, Gloucester Catholic High School, 333 Ridgeway Street, Gloucester, NJ 08030. Your support in this cause would be greatly appreciated.
Isaiah 57:1-2 The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart; the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. 2 Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; They find rest as they lie in death.
